Shared beginnings.
Connected through research.
A community with roots at HIT Weihai, continuing collaborative research
across institutions and sharing research experience.
A shared beginning,
many academic paths.
Nabla Lab is an independent academic community founded in 2025 by a student-led group at Harbin Institute of Technology, Weihai.
Our members share a joint undergraduate background with the University of Strathclyde. As our academic paths lead to different institutions, we keep working together on research questions and shared projects, while supporting research training and exchanging experience.
Discover our storyConnected interests.
Fluid Mechanics & Computation
Understanding fluid motion through mechanics and computational approaches. Our interests include computational fluid dynamics and physics-informed neural networks as ways to study fluid behaviour.
Waves, Structures & Marine Engineering
Exploring how waves, fluids and structures interact in marine settings. This theme brings together interests in wave–structure interaction, fluid–structure interaction, structural mechanics, marine engineering and offshore renewable energy.
Aerodynamics & Noise
Studying aerodynamic behaviour and noise associated with unmanned aerial vehicles. Current interests connect fluid mechanics and aerodynamics with the question of UAV noise reduction.
Low-altitude Economy
An area of interest connecting low-altitude aviation with engineering questions. Within this theme, our current interests include the aerodynamics and noise of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Meet our community.
From research training
to a continuing community.
Nabla Lab was established on 1 March 2025.
Earlier CFD work laid the groundwork. Our story has grown through wave simulations, research training and the people who joined along the way.
